Rarewomen 2014 Letter
Hello writer!
I'm so excited to participate in this exchange, and I hope that you are too.
As for my fic preferences, my tastes are varied. Well done crackfic is one of my favorite things ever. With respect to smut and romance, the gender of the pairings doesn't matter as much to me as the characters themselves. I really enjoy smut with the right characters, and provided that there is some sort of connection between the characters (romantic love, attraction, or feelings of enmity - it doesn't have to be a connection based on positive emotions). I like fluff that feels more real instead of saccharine. While I love romance in fics, I also enjoy plotty gen. Finally, I love darkfic - horror, gore, or other disturbing content, and don't have many squicks or limits as far as this genre is concerned. Deathfic, dubcon, noncon, incest, cheating, mind control, violence, etc are all okay - but it has to fit the story and the fandom.
When it comes to the prompts, treat them as suggestions only. If you have a story you'd like to write for one of the other characters that incorporates my fic preferences and the tropes I love, go for it. :)
Welcome to Night Vale
Dana (Welcome to Night Vale), The Faceless Old Woman, Old Woman Josie, Tamika Flynn
- Tamika's class goes on a trip to the Museum of Forbidden Technologies
- Dana wanders into Desert Bluffs
- A tale of Dana's time in the dog park.
- The Faceless Old Woman who lives in Old Woman's Josie's house. Does she converse with the angels? What does she see and do there?
- The Faceless Old Woman who lives in the Mayor's house
- Old Woman Josie encounters and fights off an eldritch horror
Battlestar Galactica (2003)
Anastasia Dualla, Louanne Katraine
Dee:
- An AU in which Dee is a Cylon, and resurrects after shooting herself in the head.
- Scenes from Dee and Lee's life from the moment he kissed her in the Unfinished Business flashback to the moment that the Cylons reappear
- there's a scene in "Unfinished Business" (Extended Edition) where Anders puts his hand on Dee's arm in a friendly and familiar way while Kara and Lee are fighting, and she and Anders have a short discussion about what's going in the ring. (1:04 in the extended edition of this episode). It made me think that they had established a friendship at some point. I'd really like to see this explored - how they became friends and how they dealt with the aftermath of the boxing match, using each other as support. Optionally, it'd be interesting to see Dee approach Anders about hooking up, to get back at their spouses, which is slightly OOC, but it could work depending on how it was written. Does he accept?
Kat:
- Kat's experience as a Nugget in flight training, and her thoughts and perspective about the other nuggets and their superior officers, contrasted with her experience as CAG during the colonization and occupation of New Caprica
-Kat/Starbuck - Discipline
- Kat/Starbuck hatesex set around the same time as Scar and/or kat/starbuck reconciliation
- What lead Kat to using Stims during "Final Cut"?
- "When you come back after a successful run, let me tell you. It is better than a great meal. Better than hitting a jackpot. It's better than sex!" - somebody proves her wrong about that last one (pairing is author's choice)
- Scenes from Kat's time as CAG during the New Caprica storyline.
Note: Starbuck is my favorite character in any canon ever. She's damaged and flawed, but I like that about her. If she's part of the story please don't bash her, but keep in mind that that her personality flaws are fair game for inclusion as long as she's treated fairly. Also, it's difficult to talk about Dee and Lee's relationship without touching on Kara. Kara/Lee are my OTP in BSG, and like Kara herself I know that they are flawed and dysfunctional as a couple. Again, it'd be great if you're going to bring Kara/Lee into the fic that the problems of that ship are acknowledged, but not bashed.
Also, if you write about Kat, please don't write about her death in "The Passage" as I found it really sad and pointless. The only reason that I'm not asking the same about Dee (whose death was likewise sad and pointless) is that I find the idea of her resurrecting as a Cylon intriguing.
Glee
Dottie Kazatori, Kitty Wilde, Sugar Motta, Unique Adams
So, Glee isn't the greatest these days, but it still have some pretty excellent characters on it. Kitty is one of my favorite characters on this show, and is criminally underused. Prompts:
- competing with the evil cheerio Bree for control of the cheer leading squad
- scenes from Kitty's sleepover in Glease
- Kitty's growth throughout the series, examine what caused her to stop being such an asshole and start being nice to the people from Glee club
- a Kitty/Tina dating or smut fic
- any other story that you want to tell about her
I also love Sugar - her presence is dearly missed on the show.
- A fic that focused on the reasons behind her strange mannerisms and complete lack of self awareness (is she an alien? what's her deal?).
- A friendship fic with Sugar and any other female character.
- A story where Sugar spoils the Glee club silly with her father's money would also be great, especially if the other people are totally aware that she's trying to buy their affections (but indulge her and also become better friends with her).
- Unique's guide to being totally fabulous
- Unique becomes interested in a boy who likes her for who she is and he becomes her first boyfriend. I'd prefer the guy to be an OC because all the characters on Glee have so much emotional baggage. If it is a character from the show, Jake would be the one I'd prefer.
- A scene from Unique and Marley's friendship
- Dottie schemes to get back at Tina Cohen Chang
Grey's Anatomy
April Kepner, Leah Murphy
- April/Jackson is one of the ships of my heart right now. I'd love to read a Secretly Married fic about them being adorable and in love.
- A fic about April/Jackson's wedding in Tahoe
- Scenes from Aprils' life on the farm after she fails her board exams
- April kicking ass and taking names as a trauma surgeon, even impressing the hell out of Cristina Yang
- Your version of what happens after Jackson interrupts April and Matthew's wedding
- Leah Murphy doesn't seem to have any fic on the archive yet. Maybe we can change that? I'd love to see a fic from her perspective during and following her relationship with Arizona.

- pre-canon fic about Michonne and her original group. What happened to her child? How did her boyfriend and his friend die? What prompted her to turn them into zombie escorts once they were dead? I have so many questions.
- tell me about the months Michonne & Andrea spent together before they encountered Woodbury
- Maggie discovers that she's pregnant. How does she handle it?
Things I Like: AUs, friendships on the verge of becoming romances, sexual tension, tropes, banter, humour, ladies who are badasses, geeky people, adorable animals (kitties!), world building, backstories, fuck or die, horror and gore, serial killers and psychopaths, superheroes, fairy tales, stories where people randomly turn into animals, strange and magical events in the real world that confound the people around them, aliens, science fiction, tentacles, strange and unusual predicaments, bondage, bdsm.
Things I don't like: Mpreg, watersports, bestiality, overly saccharine fluff, kid fic, AUs where everyone is either a dom or a sub, 24/7 BDSM relationships, slut shaming.
